Location and Access

The Wells Copper Project is located in Lemhi County, Idaho, accessible via a 4WD road. The property features two main prospects: a lower adit area and an upper occurrence.

Geology

The Wells Copper Project is situated in a geologically complex area characterized by metamorphosed sedimentary rocks intruded by igneous bodies. The primary host rock is meta-siltite, part of the Banded Siltite Unit of the Apple Creek Formation, which has been subjected to varying degrees of alteration and deformation.

At the lower adit area, strongly bleached and altered meta-siltite is in close proximity to a previously undocumented intrusive body, tentatively identified as leucogabbro. This intrusive outcrops extensively 200-300 feet above the old adit and may play a significant role in the mineralization process. Magnetic susceptibility readings of the leucogabbro (40.4) are notably higher than the surrounding meta-siltite (0.33-4.25).

Exploration and Resources

Historical exploration at the Wells Copper Project dates back to at least the early 20th century, as evidenced by the presence of old workings including an adit and a shack. Recent field investigations have provided valuable insights into the property's potential.

The lower adit area, while currently caved and inaccessible, shows promising signs of mineralization. The strongly bleached and altered meta-siltite near the adit portal indicates hydrothermal activity. Although significant vein material was not observed on the adit dump, the proximity of the leucogabbro intrusive and color anomalies in altered sediments to the east suggest a favorable environment for mineral deposition.

The upper prospect, located in the northern part of the Wells 2 claim, presents more visible signs of copper mineralization. Malachite and other copper minerals are present in sheared and folded meta-siltite, indicating a structurally controlled mineralization event. This upper zone, combined with the lower adit area, presents multiple exploration targets within the project area.
